ASUS expected to take a 20% revenue hit

The future is clouded until Intel and Microsoft step up their game.

Asustek Computer will most probably suffer a revenue drop of about 20% this quarter, reports DigiTimes. The main culprit is the weak European market, Asustek’s largest client base, which is still in disarray.

The industry as a whole will suffer a notebook shipment decline of about 10 to 15%. The tablet market is not yet ready to compensate this drop, especially when the bleak future of netbooks is taken into account.

ASUS still has some profitable divisions however, such as its motherboard wing, which is expected to perform well. Plus, once Intel’s Ivy Bridge and Microsoft’s Windows 8 hit the scene the entire manufacturing industry will enjoy a considerable boost.
